Malware infects one in every 300 PCs according to Microsoft

Malware, or software designed to track the user’s activity and even damage a computer system without the end user’s consent, infects one in every 300 PCs running Windows.

Microsoft recently compiled this data from 270 million Windows users who currently run the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.  Between January 2005 and March 2006, 2.7 billion system scans were performed in which malware was found 0.32 percent of the time, or in one of 311 scans.

Computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware and adware are all commonly referred to as malware and there are several ways these malicious programs get onto a computer.

Many malware creators use web pop-ups that prey on human emotions–telling users that their computer is infected, or that it has a virus. Malware developers also use pop-ups that are similar in nature to the actual Web site users are visiting. These are all direct routes for malware to infect a computer.

Outsourced IT lets you FOCUS on your Business

One of the more common problems that we hear from small organizations is that they really need the horsepower of a “big business” IT staff, but they don’t have the “big business” budget this requires.

That’s what drove us to create FOCUS, Endsight’s new outsourced IT service.  With FOCUS, we’ve hired the very best IT professionals and developed “Enterprise-Level” tools which we leverage across our clients' small business network.  From our Network Operations Center (NOC) we monitor our clients' computer infrastructure and perform automated preventative maintenance activities ensuring a level of network uptime rarely seen in small organizations.

The Focus program’s people, process and technology create an outsourced IT solution small business can easily afford.  This “Enterprise Level” of IT support that was once cost prohibitive is now within reach for small organizations everywhere (See the K&L article)  The end results are better, healthier small business networks that cost much less to own.

Client Spot Light:
K & L Wines Uses FOCUS to Save Money and Boost Business

K&L Wine Merchants, based in northern California, sells a variety of wines in all price ranges to regional customers at two retail stores. It also sells its products to global customers through a comprehensive Web site. Five years ago, the company hired EndSight, to help it better integrate its systems to handle an increase in business transactions and online sales. As K&L continued to expand its online and retail operations, its server capacity and number of computers needing management were increasing. However, it was too costly and time-consuming for K&L to handle these issues on its own. To meet these challenges, K&L recently hired EndSight as its complete outsourced IT management solution, which has allowed K&L to focus more on the wine business. As a result, K&L has been able to save time, reduce operating costs, boost efficiency, and increase business.

Keyloggers – How to Steal Without Even Looking

Ever noticed how people turn away from your computer when you’re logging into an account?  They avert their gaze to show that they’re not looking at your password as you type into your computer.  What if they didn’t need to see the characters you had typed in order to steal your password and access your bank account or read your e-mail?What if they had something that would do it for them?
